In February 2006, at the age of 5, Sammy came to Zeetlegoo’s Pet & People Store.  For the first couple months, timid Sammy rarely ventured out of the back office; however, he was still hard at work conducting trials of different brands of kitty litter. 

Nowadays, Sammy can often be seen nibbling on cat grass or lounging by the front door. 

As you can see. he has really taken to the life of a store cat...

Sammy has spent many dedicated hours researching

foods, treats, cat litters, beds

and most importantly (to Sammy anyway) - toys!

Without a doubt, Sammy's favorite toy is the

Critterbug laser toy.  In fact, he has lost 2 lbs using the Critterbug exercise program regularly!

In true feline spirit, Sammy also enjoys real fur toys - everything from a simple fur ball to a 9" twisty fur squirrel toy.  Real feathers are a hit with Sammy as well, especially on the end of a wand or a piece of string.

Sammy is now eating Innova Senior dry cat food and not only has he lost weight, he seems to have more energy.  This formula has higher fiber which helps prevent fur balls and constipation and it is also lower calorie for the less active senior cat.   Another benefit is the addition of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate for healthy joints. 

In addition, he gets Grizzly Salmon Oil as a supplement since he is very prone to shedding.  Sammy's fur became very silky and the shedding decreased almost immediately after starting him on the oil.

Taking first place in the cat litter trials is Ever Clean Unscented cat litter (www.everclean.com).  It has superior clumping yet it doesn't stick to the side of the litter pan.  Ever Clean also had the best odor control of all the litters tested. Ever Clean initially seems expensive however, a 25# box lasts an entire month before the entire litter box needs to be completely emptied and cleaned.

Sammy never ceases to amuse.  Following the new expansion of the store, Sammy took a mere week to get used to an additional 1,000 sq. ft of roaming space.  In his travels he apparently discovered the Four Paws Ski Slope Scratcher.  One late evening, strange noises were heard from the front of the store.  There was Sammy running back and forth trying to get the little mouse inside the slope.  Since then it has provided him with hours of swatting pleasure.
